Problem:  We have a hand carried shipment and we need to enter it and create a cargo control number?  How do we do this?

Solution:

This solution is for when your shipment is being carried by a person who is not a CBSA designated carrier and is travelling in their own vehicle, or if flying commercial flight, bus, etc....

Select the carrier code for HCG (Hand Carry Goods) based on method of travel

HCGM - Marine/Ocean Hand Carry Goods

HCGA - Air Hand Carry Goods

HCGR - Rail Hand Carry Goods

HCGH - Highway Hand Carry Goods

For the Cargo Control Number

Use a unique number that begins with the carrier code you used above, we suggest using the barcode number as it will be unique, but any number will do so long as its unique.

Example for hand carry highway CCN could be HCGH01234567 (Carrier code+unique number)
